Förderkreis Emil Gilels Festival e.V. – the festival’s support association

Emil Gilels is one of the great pianists of the 20th century. In his honor, the Emil Gilels Festival was launched through a private initiative in 2009.

During the festival, the likes of Martha Argerich, Evgeny Kissin, Grigory Sokolov and other world-renowned pianists have enthused the public in recent years. Some of them additionally hold masterclasses at the Freiburg Conservatory of Music – which are attended by students from all over Europe, Asia and the Americas – and give public lectures on topics such as the distinctive sound of Schubert’s works.

This concentration of world-famous pianists is an outstanding event in Freiburg, and is unparalleled throughout Germany and Europe.

Since the festival is organized solely by private commitment. In this respect the Förderkreis Emil Gilels Festival e.V. (registered association) provides generous financial and organizational support as ticket revenue does not cover full financing for the event.

We would be very happy to welcome you as a new member of our association. By joining, you contribute to Freiburg’s unique cultural and musical highlight now and in the future!
